DNA…Animus? Creed?

Finally bought myself a copy of Assassin’s Creed 2, have dabbled on it for the past few months on Playstation 3, but have finally got my own copy. I completed the first one many many years ago.

To start with it is very similar to Batman Arkham Asylum, as it is all about acrobatics and timing during combat as well as collecting items and solving riddles. However the differences is the setting and also the quality of the enviroment.

Setting Assassin’s Creed is based on the not to distance future, where it is possible to use a person’s DNA to find out about their ancestors lives and live through them, by controlling their ancestor like a puppet (Each button corresponds to a body part)the device is called an Animus. The game is focused around the conflict between the Templars and the Assassins. You play as Desmond Miles who is from Assassin heritage, but in the previous game was forced to work for the Templars. This time however he is busted out by Lucy Stillman, who is an assassin undercover. They go to the assassins hideout and there waiting for Desmond is Animus 2.0, which looks far comfier than the previous model. Desmond then follows the life of Ezio, his ancestor.

assassinsanimusThe game has many new features such as being able to do-up a town, the better the town the more rent you get, which means more money to spend on weapon, armour, healing and many other things. Another feature is that you can hire factions to disrupt guards away from their post, which can result in you going in undetected for a kill or for some treasure looting. There are also combat enhancements.

So far I have enjoyed this game, the puzzles are brilliant and will take some hard thinking to solve much more than Batman. The combat is pretty good, so are the many gadgets that you can use such as smoke bombs and the flying device. Can’t wait to see how the story pans out, then onto Brotherhood.
