There be Dragons in These Scrolls

There are many games due out during the final quarter of 2011, that I cannot wait to try out, below is a run down of all the titles.

The Elder Scrolls V Skryim

The fourth instalment of this series, Oblivion, was a massive hit compared to previous games. This was mainly due to its easy to understand level up system as well as proper combat (Skills effect damage, not hit rate), as well as being one of the first RPGs to come with the 360. Fallout 3 followed and that was equally a success, everyone was hoping and expecting the next game to be another Elder Scrolls game, but this was not the case, what followed was another Fallout game, which disappointed me slightly since I love the Elder Scrolls game. Fast forward roughly a year and now we are getting some nice Elder Scrolls action.

The first thing to notice is that your character, regardless of race, is a dragon born, who can harness the powers of dragons to do his or her bidding. These powers include slow-mo and a dash to quickly navigate dungeons and also get an advantage over your enemies. The best addition is the unscripted dragons, these nasties (or useful enemy swatters)  can randomly appear from time-to-time and will attack anyone and anything in its path. This could be quite useful if you were outnumbered and the dragon decided to take on your foes. Here is the trailer:

I really cannot wait for this game, I will be spending many hours on just one class, then moving onto the next. This game series justifies the high price of games in recent years.

Due: 11.11.11 (Cheesy)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

This is going to be a huge hit with casual and hardcore gamers alike as it has always been since the first Modern Warfare. This game is set right after MW2, and is located in many different locations and you play a few different characters. Hopefully Soap from the previous game does survive the battering he got in the last game, knowing his luck he’ll just come out with a scratch and start killing again. I don’t know why but I love the British characters in this game, Soap and Price are brilliant pair who bring some humour to the game. The American soldiers you play as usually are killed so will probably be the same in this game, and who knows maybe Soap will finally die or price *gulp*.

The locations include:

  • Dharmasala, India
  • New York, New York
  • A plane transporting the president of Russia
  • A town in Sierra Leone
  • London, England
  • Mogadishu, Somalia
  • Hamburg, Germany
  • Paris, France
  • Prague, Czech Republic
  • A castle in the Czech mountains
  • Berlin, Germany
  • The Kremlin in Moscow, Russia
  • Dubai, United Arab Emirates
  • Washington. D.C.

This information comes from Kotaku, who provides a lot more information about the game.

Hopefully the multiplayer mode can live up to the previous games expectations, as this is the main reason people buy this game. However the campaign was pretty good and kinda believable, since an EMP could render most of the western forces useless.

MW3 Official Trailer

So there we are, just 2 games that I cannot wait to play. I will probably look into more such as the new Assassins Creed tomorrow as well us other titles that I have not mentioned so far, so enjoy the trailers and see you soon Smile.
